Bands Who Should Receive More Notice

- This will be an ongoing list of bands or musical acts who, IMHO, do not receive their just dues. They are in no particular order. Feel free to add on as you see fit!
- 1. Ted Leo & the Pharmacists- In this age of so-called punk/power pop pretenders, it is refreshing to hear the real thing. Their new record, "Hearts of Oak" is great, harkening back to such late seventies icons as The Jam, Elvis Costello & the Attractions, and Squeeze UK, without coming across as derivative. More people should hear this. Ted Leo
- 2. Fountains Of Wayne- "Welcome Interstate Managers" I usually don't like bands that are too smarmy for their own good,(ie. Ween, Primus) but these guys manage to pull off their smart-ass songs with such melodic verve; you almost forget how "jokey" some of them are. Then a truly clever line hits your ear and you can't help chuckling and singing along. Some of the songs even temper their sarcastic tone enough to have some emotional depth, although most don't. That's OK, they're not trying to be Bob Dylan, so it really works for them.www.fountainsofwayne.com

Even though I've never heard their music I saw that Ted Leo and the Pharmacists have a DVD available on Netflix.
