Bad Performances in Otherwise Excellent Films

- Meg Ryan in "The Doors" - as much as I really don't like Oliver Stone, he had a point in his little featurette when he complained about Meg Ryan actually hiding her nipple because she was self-conscious while doing a nude scene in this movie. I don't know whose fault it was (hers or Stone's) but she was just so wrong for the part, and didn't seem to be of the 60's at all in an otherwise stellar cast.
- Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder in "Bram Stoker's Dracula" - At first I just thought Keanu blew in this movie, which is one of my favorites. But the more I watch it, the more I realize that Winona also sucks. The fact that this movie still remains one of my all-time favorites is an enormous tribute to Coppola's direction, the production design and costuming, and most especially, extraordinary performances by Sadie Frost, Richard E. Grant and especially Gary Oldman.
- Drew Barrymore in "Donnie Darko" - I know she helped produce it, but c'mon, she sticks out like a sore thumb in this picture, where other well-knowns (Patrick Swayze, Mary McDonnell, Noah Wyle) blend in effortlessly. It seemed like she was trying to make her role into a bigger part than it should have been.
