Author Comments:

These are in approximate order, but of course it is sometimes difficult to compare favourites, and often depends on mood.
I'm sure I have missed off some of my favourites.

Has anybody else seen &nbsp Chancer &nbsp (series one or two) ?

Recent changes:

Grey's Anatomy - new addition - excellent - series two has just finished airing on UK TV.
The West Wing - promoted higher up the list - I recently watched all seven series on DVD
The Sopranos - promoted higher up the list

Fawlty Towers never gets old. I love John Cleese's rants: "May I ask what you were hoping to see outside of a Torquay window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeests sweeping majestically across the plains?"

Curious fact about Jeannie: you never see her belly-button.

Blackadder is brimful of such one liners. Series two and three are best, but miss out series one until you have already been converted.

Have you seen Chancer - the very, very best of British TV (or any other country for that matter).

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet is actually the best, my friend. :)

I certainly enjoyed the very first series of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, many years ago now, but I only ever saw a few episodes of the more recent series. Not amongst my top 20, but it could make a top 50 if I could get to see it again. Anoher in my top 50 would be Minder. I would have to add "Grey's Anatonmy" to my top 20, which has only recently come to UK TV. House is also excellent. Have you seen Chancer?

NYPD Blue - series 2, with Jimmy Smits, is currently being repeated every night on (UK) Sky satellite channel FX.
Some great episodes shown this week, including Jimmy Smits capturing a serial killer whilst a FBI task force continue on the wrong trail but won't allow him to participate in the investigation. After capture, the head of the task force can't get the killer to talk, but our Jimmy gets the confession of course.

The Sopranos is pure genius. I was hooked straight away. i saw the entire 5th season on tv - loved it. then went out and bought the 1st and 2nd season. both even better than the fith. then for christmas got the 3rd and 4th. though alot of people see the 3rd and 4th was the "weaker" seasons, i disagree. in the 3rd you had the arrival of Ralphie, possibly the best and defiantly most controversial character. also the story line with Gloria, the best of tony's many affairs. 4th sure maybe here this was a tiny bit weak, but it still had the soprano style and was still of very high quality. My favourite character ever is Christopher, My favourite episode is D-Girl (Season 2) and my favourite overall season is 1 & 3. your thoughts on any of this?
