These are the albums I downloaded from Emusic back in the good old days when they offered "unlimited" downloads for a fixed monthly price. (A 3- or 12-month commitment was required.) I say "unlimited", because they ended my membership, accusing me of using robot software to download in violation of their policies. I wasn't, though. I'm just THAT dorky about music.

I couldn't have been that bad, however, because they invited me back to partake in their new program, which allows a specified number of track downloads for a monthly fee. It's alright, but I hate that a 15-second song costs as much to d/l as a 10-minute epic from a band like Explosions in the Sky. Still, you can't beat 90 songs for $20, especially when indie labels like Temporary Residence, Matador, and Spinart are represented.

Nice Downloading! I signed up for their trial last year, and got 50 songs at no cost. Not all of their albums are encoded at 192 bitrate like they should be though. Oh well.

Yeah, I was busy. :) But really, when they advertised "unlimited", what's the point in previewing an album or a track? If I even had a passing interest in the band (or label) I would download the whole album. Of course that would foolish with their existing structure.

I believe emusic encodes everything using VBR, but the first time I signed up, everything was at 128, so it's a marginal improvement. I agree though, 192 is what I use when I rip things onto my computer. It's a nice balance of size and quality.
