Interesting how some of these songs can seem happy and feel-good with such dark meanings behind the lyrics. I know that "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except For Me and My Monkey" was about Lennon's distrust of his bandmates, thinking they were jealous of him and Yoko Ono. "Pinch Me", also, is a fun little tune about chronic depression. And as for the Pink Floyd and Radiohead songs, despite what they may seem on the surface, I'm suspicious because those bands can rarely be described as "happy" or "feel-good."
Nice list. Especially good calls on "Superstition", "Here Comes the Sun", and "Foxey Lady." Possible additions for your consideration: Van Morrison's "Moonshine Whiskey", Aerosmith's "Big Ten Inch Record", the Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up", or Wilco's "Heavy Metal Drummer."
yes.. some of them don't exactly have happy lyrics or meanings.. but they make me feel good if I'm down. you know what i mean.
Great idea for a list, and it's always nice to see a broad range in musical taste. "Long Time Gone" deserves its place.
