I'm almost certainly going to have to add "bruce falls off the wagon" to my favorite action scenes list. Unfortunately when I saw it in the theater is was too much for my daughter, so I missed most of it.
I just saw a chunk of Reloaded again, and every time I see Hugo Weaving in either of the Matrix movies I'm reminded of what a great villain he is. The most fun with villainy since Alan Rickman's turn in Die Hard. Of course, the twins were cool to watch, but villainy in the Matrix movies begins and ends with Weaving, in my book.
I LOVED Hugo Weaving in the first Matrix movie, and now that I consider it, I'm going to add him to my list.
Here's why I didn't have him there in the first place:
I feel that Agent Smith's impact was lost when Neo managed to fight 200 of him and still emerge victorious. I never thought that Smith could beat him. Meanwhile, the Ghosts, with their new-fangled weirdness, were genuine threats. However, this is not taking into account the fact that he escaped into the real world, which earns him bonus points. He looks especially evil in the new trailer.
Yeah, I can see that side of it, although I'd call that fight a tie, with Neo basically running away at the end. I certainly got the impression the momentum was turning Smith's way before Neo took off. And leaving that fight unresolved lends more weight to the big forthcoming showdown. Oh, and I saw a GREAT Revolutions trailer attached to Kill Bill (you must have seen the same one?). Lots of tantalizing stuff. I can't wait for that movie.
Yeah, I saw the same trailer. BUT, I thought Reloaded looked good too, and I didn't end up liking that one. I guess I'll end up seeing it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
At first I didn't believe that Clint Eastwood had done the score to "Mystic River." But I looked it up, and sure enough, he's been composing music for his films since 1980. Learn something new every day, I guess.
I was a little shocked too. I thought that the movie used music quite well, too.
