  • **Incredibly entertaining horror film featuring the naughtily jovial Kolchak. Is a vampire stalking the streets of Las Vegas? You'll have to watch and find out. A certain sly charm exudes from this taught little 72 minute feature. Everything is executed so well that you can't help smiling with every twist. A loss in shock value since '71 is a forgivable offence since The Night Stalker is a genuine A-Grade hoot.

The French Connection is one of several (okay, quite a few) movies that will forever prevent me from achieving critical credibility. I just couldn't warm up to that movie. Loved The Last Picture Show though, so I'm happy to see that in your upper echelon. Those and Dirty Harry are the only three I've seen from your "Great" rung for this year.

I wish Duel would come out on DVD. I've been wanting to see that movie for a long time.

Good year for you! Only 5 filed at "Disappointing" or lower.

I'll start writing reviews on the pre-80's films so people can design their 70's viewing to taste. Actually I like French quite a bit better on the second watch, any chance on a re-watch?

Duel is out on videocassette. I saw it in Columbia House Canada about a month ago. But where I saw it was on Bravo years ago and in wide-screen even.

I've been doing better since my early 20's on watching better films.

You must watch The Hospital. It's a nasty black-comedy about a public hospital system in the 70's. George C. Scott's in it...and that's a good thing.

Re-watches are almost always possible, but definitely on the back burner for the next year or two at least.

I do have to keep reminding myself that VHS still exists, but in this case I remembered and I know my local video store doesn't stock Duel. Alas.

The Hospital has been duly queued.

You know what, I'll keep an eye out for it and if I perchance come across it on ze satellite TV, preferably in original format, I'll tape it and sent it to Listology. Somehow it should find you. I think it's on in a couple of weeks.

One of Spielberg's budding novice films, along with Sugarland Express which is worth checking out if ya haven't seen.

Wow, that'd be great! If you end up making a tape, Drop me a line and I'll send you my address.

I'm on it.
