Author Comments:

You only need to guess the film only. I'm not sure I could remember the actors' names for all of these myself! This was such a great idea, I just had to steal it! I'll try to make this a little difficult, so beware.

I'll add more as these are guessed.

Impress me!

Tally:

jgandcag: 22!!! (I get the feeling we watch alot of the same movies, eh?)

1922: 4

jblack: 3

jpthompson: 3

alsox4life: 2

jim: 1

Phreak: 1

Timepiec: 1

nadine: 1

dgeiser1: 1

cramoukji: 1

ukaunz: 1

The game is on! Again, special thanks to jblack, from whom I am blatantly stealing this idea.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

This damn list is tough. What did you do man, go through your foreign film library? i'll guess at #6 and say Goodfellas Joe Pesci. I'm probably wrong though.

One down! Great job!

Yes, this is pretty tough. I felt that was the only way to make this seem like something more than a obvious carboncopy of your list (which, of course, it is...).

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

BTW, I believe only 4 of these are from foreign films.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I wasnt looking hard enough #17 is Richard Dreyfuss from Close Encounters.

Back in black. Correct!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I'm guessing Daniel Day-Lewis in The Crucible for #20, and Elena Lowenshon (sp?) in Simple Men for #9 (although I don't recall her character having a last name).

Correct on the Crucible; wrong on Simple Men.

Congrats!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

10. Sara Goldfarb is Ellen Burstyn's character in Requiem For A Dream. Most surprising in that movie was Marlon Wayans in a dramatic/non-comedic role...

You obviously know you're right. Great job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

# 9 is Catherine Zeta-Jones' character from The Mask of Zorro.

Correct!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

1 Harold and Maude

5 Detective in Psycho
15. Trwasure of Sierra madre

17. Howards End

Correct on all but number two.

Impressive!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

bangsie, here's one to identify if you can or add to your list if you can't. In what live-action movie does a character named Homer Simpson appear?

I have no idea, and I will add it. Great one!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

22 is Cider House Rules not 2 which I dont know.

Yes, correct on all! Now get me the name of the last film.

Wow!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I know 3. but I am leaving this very difficult one to see if anyone can get it. Now that is a tough one.

:) I've seen that movie entirely too many times...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Again, great job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Bingo!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

# 7. is Kathleen Turner in War of the Roses.

nadine

Good job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

36 is Joseph Cotton in Citizen Kane

And one of my favorite characters in film history. Congrats!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

38. is Cusack in Say Anything which is the best "teen age" flick ever made. I think I am going to start a crusade to get Cusack more recognition as one of, if not the best actor working in Hollywood. Think how much good stuff this guy has made.

On another note does seem like we love the same movies, Vertigo not withstanding, Cotton was the best thing about Kane and that is saying something. Plus he was great in The Magnificent Ambersons.

You're correct, of course, not only with your guess, but also with your assessment of Mr. Cusack's under-rated talents. One of the biggest reasons for this is that he obviously loves starring opposite strong female actors, and they always seem to garner all the acclaim for the most of the best films he stars in. This goes for The Grifters (Anjelica Huston (Oscar nom.) and Annette Bening), Bullets Over Broadway (Dianne Wiest (Oscar win) and Jennifer Tilly (Oscar nom, I believe)), and Being John Malkovich (Catherine Keener (Oscar nom.)). It seems that if you'd like a Best Supporting Actress nomination (or win), your best bet is to star opposite John Cusack!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs (Say Anything fan)

Is Harry Caul Gene Hackmen from Get Shorty? I think so.

No, but you're so close, you'll kick yourself!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Ok Bangs we need some hints on these. I know 3. but i want to see if anyone else can get that one
I think 35. is Hackman in The Conversation" he was Harry Zimm in Get Shorty. Hackman is truly a great actor.

You are correct. I will provide hints very shortly.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

33. Griffin Mill - Tim Robbins in The Player

I also believe Homer Simpson was played by Donald Sutherland but I have no idea what movie it was...

Thats it. It was Sutherland in Day of The Locusts. This one has been bugging me ever since I first read it. Thank You.

Yes. It was Bertie's suggestion, but I did look it up, and you are correct!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Indeed!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

New Stuff ..cool. 41. is Welles in Touch of Evil...I know what movie old Waldo is in but for the life of me I cant remeber the actor

Correct, and I'll point out that in my game, you only need the film title, not the actor's name!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

"Laura" then...

Correct!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Hey lbangs, I have a question, have you ever thought of making a 100 Best Films list? I'm sure it would be excellent, I could use it to help me find movies to watch.

This is how my top 100 Rock Album list was started. I have considered it several times, and I probably will create one, but I'm not sure when I'll have the time to complete it. I'll see if I can start narrowing down some films this weekend. If I do finally finish a list, I will probably post it in a similar manner as the rock list.

Thanks for your interest. Let me think about this one a little.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

That would be coolness incarnate.

Thanks. You really are too kind.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I love revisiting these old games. Ned Racine was William Hurt's character in Body Heat. Good thing it's been less than two weeks since I watched it.

I know the list is old, but...
27. Willem Dafoe, Platoon

Only three I'm certain of.

#11 Manhattan (played by Woody Allen)
#27 Platoon (played by Willem Dafoe)
#43 Notting Hill (played by Hugh Grant)

Correct on all three. Great job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

#29 must be Cary Grant in Bringing Up Baby!

While reading #3, Griffith's The Birth of a Nation comes to my mind. The Camerons and the Stonemans. A female character... then I go with Lilian Gish.

Two in a row; great job! One more, and you have Tic Tac Dough!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Antoine Doinel, aka as François Truffaut on-screen alter ego first appeared in Les 400 Coups (the 400 blows, I think is the english title) played by Jean-Pierre Léaud...
Is that the answer you were expecteing ?

It is certainly the answer I was hoping for. Nice job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I think #39 Richard Hannay is from The Thirty-Nine Steps. I've read the book but haven't seen the movie yet!

Good job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Marcello Rubini is Mastroianni's character in La dolce vita.

And Liz Imbrie rings a bell too, but I dunno which...

Nice work!

And yes, Liz is from a film many many Listologists have seen...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Ha, now I know. Liz Imbrie was in The Philadelphia Story! Alas, I don't know the actress...

There ya go!

Good call!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Ned Racine is William Hurt in Body Heat.

Good job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Is Vicki Allession Glenda Jackson in Women in Love. I know it's an Oscar-winning role, but I'm not sure if that's the right one.

You are so close, you are hurting me!

You have the correct actress, and she did win an Oscar for this performance, but the film is not Women in Love.

Give it another shot!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

So it must be Glenda Jackson in A Touch of Class. You should check out my Oscar-themed character games.

Good job!

Sorry I'm so slow!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Oops, never mind.

Never minded! :)

Shalom, y'all!
