This list tracks how many films players have watched in 2012. Shorts (less than 40 minutes), made-for-TV movies, and TV series do not count toward one's 'score'. I'm allowing direct-to-video/dvd ("video/dvd premieres"), theatrical features shown on TV, and repeat viewings.
And of course: your list needs to be numbered!

Many thanks to dayfornight - he now is called scottwblack - who maintained the original list. Thanks to Lukeprog who did a great job maintaining the list for 2005!
And all hail Rosie for holding the list in 2006 and 2007!

And thanks also to those who continue to play.

Thanks for hosting this once again. Count me in: http://listology.com/tomelce/list/films-seen-2012

I'd love to do it. But it'll depend on the spam issues if I succeed!
Thanks for playing again.

Have you contacted an admin about it?
It seems to me that all the links are what's triggering the spam filter (when I added a link to the scoreboard on my 2012 list, I had to fill out a CAPTCHA but I've been getting a "warning" about "line 175" for weeks now), but you can hardly run the scoreboard without links to the participants' logs.

We're in contact, yes. But he thought the problem was solved, but it isn't. I still can't update some of my lists. So I'm waiting for an answer.
The links might be a reason, tough I still can't find a logic why they're hindrance on one list and not on another.

One of the problems has to do with a daily limit set on spam filtering by Mollom on its free service and then it starts blocks all edits as spam. Admin (heyrocker) said he would request a higher daily limit. If you can't make an edit try again the next day. That works sometimes in my experience but is not 100% reliable. I think heyrocker is researching an alternative to Mollom http://drupal.org/project/modules/?filters=type%3Aproject_project%20tid%...

postscript,
I am removing daily spam http://www.listology.com/jwalling/list/spam-patrol
There appears to be a daily baseline of 5-20 new spam user accounts, 2-4 new spam articles and comments. However, some days Listology gets a shit load of spam articles and comments posted by humans. Without spam filtering, spambots would pile onto that shit load. I have removed about one third of the old spam posted since late 2010 and will continue chipping away at it.

Sadly, it doesn't work for me. I don't seem to be able to update some of my lists.

All your work is highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Enjoyed last year - cannot wait and ready to go in 2012!

Thanks for playing again.

You are! Thanks for playing again.

In again:

(By the way, the Scoreboard is the only reason I will come back to Listology. I know spam was a problem in the past, but trying to edit or delete a post, only to have it rejected because of spam suspicions is really annoying. It hasn't happened with my watch lists yet, though.)

Thanks for playing again. But there's a problem if you're gonna list the total films watched in the name of your list, since the url will change every time you change the title. And so I'll have to adapt the link to your list at every update.
Edit: There might be no problem with the title after all. Let's give it a try the way you want it. If it's a problem I'll let you know.

Welcome. It's always great to have a new player.

I'll play again. Thanks for doing it.

http://www.listology.com/socialretard/list/films-seen-2012

Glad to have you again. And the pleasure is all mine!

Please sign me up again if that's OK. Always lots of fun.

Of course it's OK. Thanks for playing again.

Thanks.

Another new player. Great! You look like you could be a strong contender.

Sure. Another new player. Thanks.

I'm in again. Cracked the top 10 last year, but didn't hit my goal of 300 movies. Perhaps this year... http://www.listology.com/maniac-mansion/list/seen-2012

Cool! Thanks for playing again.

The trick to getting that high is to push films as much as you can early in the year. That way, when life gets too real, you are already ahead of the game. In 2010 I not only met, but significantly passed my goal of 365 films. This was how I did it.

I'd like to join in too. I saw it going on last year, but by the time I joined listology it seemed too late to join (and I ended up watching over 300 more than the winner :P ). Don't think I'll watch as many this year, but what the heck: http://www.listology.com/mightysparks/list/2012-film-log

Thanks for joining. You look like a very strong player indeed.

count me in again kaplan

I will. Thanks for playing again.

Count me in for another year :-)

Done. Thanks for playing again!

Thanks for that!

Count me in: http://listology.com/nukualofa/list/movies-seen-2012

I didn't watch so many movies last year, so my main goal this year will be beating that number. Also, I had a lot of fun reading the other lists :)

Thanks for joining again. And I hope you'll obtain your goal.

I'm in, again. 2012

Added. Thanks for being here again.

Gotta keep the tradition alive. I'm in for another year: http://listology.com/hinterland/list/films-seen-2012

Indeed, you got to ;-)
Thanks for playing again.

I've been too busy with law school to watch too many movies, but hey, what the hell: http://www.listology.com/ajdagreat/list/films-seen-2012.

That's the spirit! And all the luck with your studies.

I know the rules but I'm gonna go ahead and add short films I watch to my list as I want to keep track of everything I see.

It is a pity if that refrains you from playing at the Scoreboard, because you look like a strong contender. It's not against the rules to put short films on your list, as long as you don't number them.
I myself have shorts on my list, but I number them separately (and manually) to make sure there's no confussion with the films that qualify for the Scoreboard. You can have a look here: http://listology.com/kaplan/list/films-seen-2011.

Another new player. Welcome!

I'm in!

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'll join in the fun again this year:
http://www.listology.com/puzzgal/list/movies-seen-2012

Thank you!

ok, I've changed it now. I've made another list for my short film viewings.

Thanks.

Thanks for playing again, but could you number your list? Thanks.

Ah forgot. will do

count me in ! i hope to do better than my shocking performance last year!

Done. Thanks for playing again and good luck!

I'll play again, thanks!

Good idea! Thanks.

I'm in.

Indeed, you are. Thanks.

mightysparks you're going DOWN

There's the spirit!

Hehe, I have some 'real life' stuff happening later this year, so there will most probably be a chance of surpassing me :)

I will. Thanks.

Yay! I'm happy to join again! I'm (hopefully) fitting more movies around my work schedule this year..

http://listology.com/southbounder/list/movies-seen-2012

Thanks and good luck.

Well count me in, I don't think I'll watch that many but we'll see it's my first year that I track what I watch. Here is the link to my list http://www.listology.com/lendoxia/list/movies-ive-watched-2012

Thanks for joining, it's always good to see some new names. And we need all sorts of players to keep this interesting, not only heavy viewers.

Update #01 (09 January) - 25 players at this first update, that's 3 more than at the first update last year.
We have five new players, that's more than the 2 newbies at the first update in 2011. Three of them are in the top 10: guardianryoga is ninth, Lee94 (20 films) is second and mightysparks (22 films) is first. But it's too early, of course, to draw conclusions. Last year at the first update we had two new players leading the pack, too, but McJoJo quit the Scoreboard and Suruaika ended 21st.
staup2005 won't be defending his title this year and for the second year in a row, WB, a strong player from the earlier editions, isn't playing either. In the comments to WB's 2012 list, they explain why. rudolf55, the 2009 and 2010 winner and ninth last year, also hasn't joined (yet?). Two more players from last years top 10, rwebb and Cosgrove, were absent at the first update, though rwebb will be present at the second.
We have 10 players with an average of more than 1 film/day. Three of them (mightysparrow - lee94 - tom_elce) have an average of more than 2 films/day.
I'm not one of those 10 players, since I saw only two films. I'm 23rd, and I have Tatum to thank that I'm not last. What a difference with my 11 films and 6th place of last year. Well, it can only get better, right?

I was having problems with one of my lists saving. But only one of them. No matter what I did, the Captcha would not work. But other lists were saving without problems, even if I was prompted for a Captcha. Ultimately, it turned out that removing all hyphens in the list and author comment areas allowed me to save my list. So if someone else, or if this list, has that problem, here is a potential solution. Remove ALL hyphens (minus sign). No other symbol which is also a mathematical symbol seems to have a problem ... at this point. This FYI.

Hyphens or no hyphens, it doesn't work for me. I have some lists that I can't save. I'm not even being asked to fill in a Captcha. I immediately get the message: "Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted." On other lists, like the Scoreboard, I have to fill in a Captcha. And there's a third group of lists that save without a problem. But there's no logic behind it. Clearly, when the list contains a lot of links, chances are higher that there will be a problem. But still: I can't update http://listology.com/kaplan/list/00-directors or http://listology.com/kaplan/list/01-directors-la-andrew-sarris at all, but after filling in the Captcha I can still update this very similar list http://listology.com/kaplan/list/02-most-watched-directors-number-their-.... It drives me crazy.

Was just about to post saying that. I tried it and it still doesn't work, really irritating.

Update #02 (16 January) - Seven new players this week and one player already dropped out (Tatum), which means there are 31 players. A few usuals suspects - Imposter, P Pogo, rudolf55 and Cosgrove - haven’t joined (yet?). And some more players from last year’s edition are missing (L.J.T., spoky).
Surprisingly this early in the game: only one player (kgracetasticake) is entering the top 10 this week. Mightysparks added a whooping 31 films, and is the only player with an average of more than three films/day. Nine more players have an average of more than one film/day. I’m not one of them. I saw only 4 films this week. I went from 23 to 24.

I am watching two different films and I am not sure how or if I should include them in my list. The two films or series are the Decaloque and Berlin Alexanderplaz. I was just going to count them as one film each, but then I was not sure if they would qualify as a film under the guidelines for the list. I intend on watching them - no matter your decision, but I did not want to list them and cause confusion if they do not qualify. Love being a part of the list and will be waiting for your decision.

Although IMDb lists them both as TV-miniseries, they qualify for the Scoreboard. Both Dekalog and Berlin Alexanderplatz have been shown at film festivals and even have won "film" prizes. Berlin Alexanderplatz only counts for one film. I'm tempted to let you count Dekalog as ten films, since it's a collection of 10 independent films that can be viewed separately, even though there's a theme that binds them together. I can't remember how we dealt with Dekalog in the past, though.
So, unless there's an outbreak of protest amongst the other players, you can count the ten Dekalog films separately.

Thanks for the answer - I will wait to see if there is any more discussion before I list either movie.

Yes I would like to participate. Thanks!

Thanks. I'll add you at the next update.

Update #03 (23 January) - No new players this week. Mightysparks still strong in the lead. It's the only player with an average of more than three films/day. Eight more players have an average of more than one film/day, that's one less than last week. KitanoX42 (at 8, from 16) is the only new player in the top 10. Another remarkable change: dashforcover from 30 to 13.
I saw 2 films and went from 24 to 26.

robear61

Tell me when you've watched Berlin / Dekalog. Always been fascinated to see both.

Will do.

I got Berlin Alexanderplatz through Netflix. It is still available that way. One review I read strongly suggested that, if one were not well acquainted with the film and the history of the work, they watch the last disc first because it contains some important explanatory material about it. I did that and it did help me with the work.

Also, if you have access to a library that will do Interlibrary Loan for films (mine does), consider that method. Its cheaper than Netflix unless you are already a Netflix subscriber. Not available through Netflix Instant Play, though.

Thank you for the info concerning the film and the Interlibrary loan program. I will see the last disc first, and I will also check into the loan program.

With pleasure.

But can you number your list? Thanks!

Update #04 (31 January) - Two new players this week, we have 33 players now. Mightysparks stays strongly in the lead, but is one film short of keeping an average of three films/day. Still, mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than two films/day. Nine more players have seen more than one film/day. That's one player (kgracetasticsake) more than last week. Kgracetasticsake, too, is the only new player in the top 10. I saw 19 films and went from 26 to 14, the most remarkable change of the week.
With 92 films in January, mightysparks is on course for 1083 films this year. That would be the one but best result ever. Longtime players might remember that staup2005 saw 1413 films in 2006, or 3.87 films/day. In the following years, no one, not even staup2005, came near this result. As a matter of fact, no other player has ever ended the year with an average of more than two films/day. Just to point out that mightysparks is playing highly impressive.

Update #05 (06 February) - Ultimo Lee entered the top 10, no player fell out of it, since there's a tie on the tenth position. Dashforcover keeps climbing: from 30 (three weeks ago) to 14. Mightysparks is still in the lead, with 102 films, or an average of more than 2 films/day. Ten more players have an average of more than 1 film/day. That's one more than last week, with Ultimo Lee joining this bunch. Bpchicky is only one film short of that 1 film/day average. I saw eight films and went from 14 to 13.

Watched the Dekalog - listed it as ten films as earlier informed. The series is incredible.

Update #06 (13 February) - Lee94 jumped to the second spot (tied with Puzzgal). They both have seen 76 films. Mightysparks stays strongly in the lead with 124 films. That's an average of 2.81 films/day. Ten more players have an average of more than 1 films/day. Bpchicky is new in this bunch, whereas kgracetasticsake fell out of it. That's also the only change in the top 10: bpchicky in (on 10), kgracetasticsake out (to 12). I saw five films this week and stayed 13th.

Update #07 (20 February) - Almost no changes in the top 10. Mightysparks is still the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. 11 more players have an average of more than 1 film/day, that's one more than last week, kgracetasticsake is amongst them again. I saw seven films and stayed 13th.

Where's the update?

Aha, the existential question ;-)
Two weeks ago the site was offline and last week I couldn't update. If nothing goes wrong I'll update next Monday.

Update #08 (05 March) - First update in two weeks. Some important changes in the top 10 with robear61 (up from 5) and guardianryoga (up from 6) now sharing the third place. The most remarkable change: rwebb's list got updated for the first time since long: 57 films were added and rwebb climbs from 19 tot 8. rwebb is now one of the ten players with an average of more than 1 film/day, that's two players less than at the previous update: kgracetasticsake, julesyoung & KitanoX42 fell below that barrier. Mightysparks has an average of more than 2 films/day.
I saw only six films and went from 13 to 15.

Update #09 (26 March) - First update in three weeks. I couldn't update on 19 March and on 12 March the site was off line. Some important changes in the top 10: robear61 from 3 to 5, Ultimo Lee from 9 to 7, bpchicky from 10 to 8, julesyoung from 12 to 8, rwebb from 7 to 10 and tom_elce from 8 to 11. Mightysparks, of course, is still the number one, with 215 films. That's 72 more than lee94. Mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. Nine more players have an average of more than 1 film/day: julesyoung is part of that group again. With 85 films in 86 days tom_elce is just one film short of that average. I saw four films and went from 15 to 18.

Update #10 (09 April) - First update in two weeks. The same players in the top 10 as at the previous update, though there have been some changes. Most remarkable change: rwebb from 10 to 6. Mightysparks is still in the lead: 251 films in 100 days. Extrapolation for 366 days => 919 films. Mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. Eight more players have an average of more than 1 film/day. That's one player less than two weeks ago: with 99 films, bpchicky is at 0.99 film/day. I saw only two films, but stayed 18th.

Update # 11 (16 April) - Same players in the top 10 as last week, and no changes at all in the top 5. Mightysparks, in the lead, is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. Eight other players have seen more than 1 film/day. I saw four films and went from 18 to 19.

Update #12 (23 April) - Some important changes in the top 10: rwebb from 8 to 5, bpchicky from 10 to 6 and robear61 from 5 to 9. bpchicky has rejoined the group of players with an average of more than 1 film/day. They'e ten now. Mightysparks has an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw five films and stayed 19th.

Update #13 (30 April) - The top 6 stayed the same and only a few minor changes in the lower region of the top 10. No players entering the top 10. But robear61, on the tenth spot, fell below the 1 film/day barrier. We have now nine players with an average higher than 1 film/day. Mightysparks has even seen more than 2 films/day. I saw three films this week and stayed 19th.

Update #14 (07 May) - Some changes in the top 10: lee94 (3->2), guardianryoga (2->3), bpchicky (7->5), rwebb (5->6) and Ultimo Lee (6->7). Mightysparks is still the number one. The only player, too, with an average of more than 2 films/day. 7 more players have an average of more than 1 film/day, that's one player less (Puzzgal) than last week. I saw five films and stayed 19th.

Update #15 (14 May) - Changes in the top 10: guardianryoga (3->2), lee94 (2->3), rwebb (6->5), Ultimo Lee (7->6), bpchicky (5->7), Puzzgal (9->8), julesyoung (8->9). Mightysparks on 1 with 345 films, that's 132 films more than guardianryoga on 2. Mightysparks is still the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. 7 more players have an average of more than 1 film/day: Puzzgal joined that group, julesyoung fell out of it.

I saw five films and stayed 19th.

Update #16 (21 May) - Only two small changes in the top 10: julesyoung (9->8) and Puzzgal (8->9). Mightysparks in the lead with 359 films, being the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. Six more players have an average of more than 1 film/day, that's player one less than last week: Puzzgal fell below that line. Julesyoung is one film short of reaching that average. Maybe next week? I saw 7 films and went from 19 to 18.

Update #17 (28 May) - Only change in the top 10: kgracetasticsake (12->10). Eight players have seen more than 1 film/day, that's one player more (julesyoung) than at the previous update. Mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw only 1 film but I stayed 18th.

Update #18 (04 June) - Dashforcover entered the top 10 (11->10), kgracetasticsake fell out of it (10->11). Other changes: Ultimo Lee (6->5), rwebb (5->6), Puzzgal (9->8) and julesyoung (8->9). Nine players have seen more than 1 film/day, Mightysparks has an average of even more than 2 films/day. For the first time this year: no ties! I saw 10 films and stayed 18th.

Update #19 (11 June) - Dashforcover didn't add any films and fell out of the top 10 (10->11), kgracetasticsake is back in (10->11). Higher up in the top 10 we see rwebb winning one spot (6->5) and Puzzgal even two spots (8->6). Ultimo Lee (5->7) and bpchicky (7->8) went down. The same nine players have seen more than 1 film/day and leader mightysparks even has an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw 12 films and won three places: 18->15.

Update #20 (18 June) - Only one change in the top 10: Puzzgal is now fifth, tiedwith rwebb. Apart from that it's been a quiet week, except for Imposter, who went from 14 to 11. Still the same nine players have seen more than 1 film/day of whom mightysparks has even seen more than 2 films/day. I saw 7 films and lost one place: 15->16.

Update #21 (25 June) - Ultimo Lee (199 films) went from 7 to 5, which means that rwebb (197) and Puzzgal (197), who were tied 5th, went down to 6. Neither of them hasn't updated their list, so they might go up again next week. Lee94 did a massive update by adding 54 films, and is now only six films shy from the second place, held by guardianryoga. Nine players have an average of more than 1 film/day; one of them, mightysparks, has an average of even more than 2 films/day. I saw 8 films and won one place: 16->15.

Update #22 (02 July) - A few changes in the top 10: Puzzgal (6->5), Ultimo Lee (5->6) & rwebb (6->7). Still the same nine players with an average of more than 1 film/day; mightysparks even has an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw five films and went from 15 to 14. I've still 20 films less than the number 10 (kgracetasticsake), but I've set myself a new goal: top 10, here I come!

good luck! I find it funny that, no matter how many or few films I watch, I stay at the same place -- luck number 13. Now watch it change! ha ha ha

Thanks. Sure, watch ;-))

Update #23 (09 July) - Most striking change in the top 10: rwebb added 34 films and went from 7 to 4. Imposter added 27 films and entered the top 10 (on 10). Kgracetasticsake went from 10 to 11. There are still nine players with an average of more than 1 film/day, though it's very close for julesyoung (191 films after 191 days). Mightysparks, of course, has an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw nine films and stayed 14th. Sadly, my gap with the number 10 grew, due to the jump ofImposter, from 20 to 21 films. Still, I'm trying.

Update #24 (16 July) - No update from rwebb who went from 4 to 6 => Puzzgal (5->4) and jaimeblack (6->5) both won one place. No other changes in the top 10, with mightysparks still the number one. There are nine players with an average of more than 1 film/day, of whom mightysparks even has an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw five films and stayed 14th. My gap with the number 10 got smaller, only 16 films to go!

Update #25 (23 July) - Only one change in the top 10: kgracetasticsake joins Imposter on the tenth spot. The other nine players in the top 10 have an average of more than 1 film/day. Mightysparks, the number one, is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw only two films but stayed 14th. Despite seeing only two films, my gap with the number 10 increased again: 14 films left!

Update #26 (07 August) - First update in two weeks. Ultimo Lee (7->6) and rwebb (6->7) changed places and kgracetasticsake, who was tied 10th, fell out of the top 10. These are the only changes in the top 10, with mightysparks leading the pack. Mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day, eight other players have an average of more than 1 film/day. I saw only three films and went down from 14 to 15. My gap with the number 10, Imposter, grew much larger: 35 films!

Update #27 (13 August) - Changes in the top 10: bpchicky (8->7), rwebb (7->8), kgracetasticsake (11->10) & Imposter (10->11). Mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day, eight other players have seen more than 1 film/day. I watched six films and went from 15 to 14. My gap with the number 10, kgracetasticsake, got smaller: 33 films!

Update #28 (20 August) - Changes in the top 10: rwebb (8->6), Ultimo Lee (6->7) & bpchicky (7->8). Mightysparks is still the number one, with 634 films. After that 233 days that's an average of 2.72 films/day. The past weeks Mightysparks has slowly but steadily gotten closer to the 3 films/day mark. At present, Mightysparks is the only player who has seen more than 2 films/day. Seven other players have an average of more than 1 film/day. That's one player less than the previous weeks: julesyoung, having seen 232 films this year, missed the cut with one film. I saw six films and went from 14 to 15. My gap with the number 10, kgracetasticsake, got smaller with one unit: still 32 films to go.

I'm beginning to think that Mightysparks has figured out how to forego normal sleep patterns. Or he has a job that allows him to watch films. There are those kinds of jobs -- rare, but they do exist!

Haha, I have a normal sleeping pattern. I work casually as a stocktaker; so only work as jobs come up. I don't do much else with my day besides watching movies. And I'm a she :P

ha ha! kaplan made the same assumption with me and I replied, too, that I'm a she.

Update #29 (27 August) - Changes in the top 10: Ultimo Lee (7->6), rwebb (6->7) & Imposter (11->10, tied with kgracetasticsake). Should I repeat that Mightysparks still occupies the number one spot and has an average of more than 2 films/day. Seven other players have an average of more than 1 film/day. I saw five films and stayed 15th. The gap with the number 10 grew with 1 film: 33 films.

Update #30 (03 September) - Changes in the top 10: tom_elce enters the top, 10 (at 10). Imposter & kgracetasticsake, who were tied 10th, fell out of it. Mightysparks saw 25 films this week, and, of course, stays first. If she keeps up seeing 25 films/week, she will just pass the 3 films/day barrier by the end of the year. For the moment she's the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day. Seven other players have an average of more than 1 film/week.
I saw five films, and stayed fifteenth. Thanks to the good result of tom_elce my gap with the number ten grew with 3 films. 36 films to go!

Update #31 (10 September) - Kgracetasticsake joined tom_elce on the the tenth spot, that's the only change in the top 10 this week. No striking changes in the rest of the list either. Eight players have seen more than 1 film/day. One of them, mightysparks, even has an average of more than 2 films/day. I saw 11 films and stayed 15th. Still, I came 7 films closer to then tenth spot: 29 films to go!

Update #32 (17 September) - Only changes in the top 10: Ultimo Lee (6->5) and Puzzgal (5->6). Eight players - mightysparks, guardianryoga, lee94, jaimeblack, Ultimo Lee, Puzzgal, rwebb, bpchicky - have an average of more than 1 film/day, mighytsparks even of more than 2 films/day.
I saw 10 films and stayed 15th. Due to tom_elce's whooping 22 films, my difference with the tenth spot grew with 12 units. 41 films to go!

Update #33 (24 September) - Only changes in the top 10: tom_elce (10->9) & julesyoung (9->10). In two months tom_elce climbed from 17 to 9. If you look at he difference between tom_elce and the 17th spot at this moment, you'll see this is quite a feat. The question is: where will this end? Maybe, in a few weeks, tom_elce will cross the 1 film/day border. For the moment 8 players have done that, with mightysparks being the only one with an average of more than 2 films/day.
I saw 11 films and stayed 15th. My difference with then 10th spot grew with three more films: 44 films to go!

Update #34 (01 October) - Changes in the top 10: bpchicky (7->8) & rwebb (7->8). Eight players still have an average of more than 1 film/day, but rwebb, whose list hasn't been updated for almost two months, is bound to end under the 1 film/day-border next week.
I saw only four films but I stayed 15th. My difference with the 10th spot grew with one unit: 45 films to go!

Update #35 (08 October) - Changes in the top 10: jaimeblack (4->3) and lee94 (3->4). rwebb, whose list hasn't been updated since August, drops under the 1 film/day border. Still seven players left with an average of more than 1 film/day. mightysparks is the only player with an average of more than 2 films/day, and nearing very closely to the 3 films/day barrier. For the first time this year, the number one (mightysparks) has seen more than twice as much films as the number two (guardianryoga): 840 versus 415 films.
I saw seven films and stayed 15th. My difference with the 10th spot grew, again, with one unit: 46 films to go!

Update #36 (15 October) - Remarkable! For the first time since January mightysparks has passed the 3 films/day barrier. Six more players have seen more than 1 film/day - guardianryoga, jaimeblack, lee94, Ultimo Lee, Puzzgal and bpchicky - but none of them has an average of more than 2 films/day. Changes in the top 10: tom_elce (8->7) & rwebb (7->8).
I saw six films and stayed 15th. The distance between me and the tenth spot has grown, again. 48 films to go!

Update #37 (22 October) - rwebb did an update for the first time in a few months and climbed from 9 tot 6. As a result, Puzzgal (7), bpchicky (8) and tom_elce (9) each lost one place. rwebb rejoined the club of players with an average of more than 1 film/day. They're eight now. One of them, leader mightysparks, even has an average of more than 3 films/day.
I saw eight films and won one spot, I'm 14th now. I managed to close the gap with the number ten with four films. 44 films left to go!

Update #38 (05 November) - First update in two weeks. Changes in the top 10: bpchicky (8->7), tom_elce (9->7) & Puzzgal (7->9). Nine players have an average of more than 1 film/day. Mightysparks has even seen more than 3 films/day.
I saw fourteen films and lost one place, I'm 15th again. But I closed the gap with the number ten by six films: 38 to go!

Update #39 (19 November) - First update in two weeks. Changes in the top 10: bpchicky (7->8), tom_elce (9->7) & Puzzgal (9->8). Mightysparks in the lead with 1103 films, or 3.40 films/day. Six other players have an average of more than 1 film/day, that's two less (bpchicky & Puzzgal) than at the previous update.
I saw eight films and climbed one place, I'm 14th again. But the gap with the number ten got bigger, albeit with only one film: 39 to go.

Update #40 (26 November) - Changes in the top 10: tom_elce (7->6), rwebb (6->7) & bpchicky (8-9). Mightysparks added only 2 films this week! Still, with a total of 1105 films and an average of 3.34 films/day she's almost certain to be this year's winner. Six more players have an average of more than 1 film/day.
I saw twenty-one films and won three places, I'm 11th now. I closed the gap with the number ten with 18 films. Still 21 to go.

Update #41 (10 December) - First update in two weeks. Changes in the top 10: Puzzgal (8->7) & rwebb (7->8). Only six players left with an average of more than 1 film/day: guardianryoga, jaimeblack lee94, Ultimo Lee, tom_elce and of course mightysparks, who has seen more than three films/day.
I saw sixteen films and stayed 11th. I got closer to the number ten spot. 12 films to go!

Update #42 (17 December) - Mightysparks is the winner of this year's Scoreboard. Unless she quits the game before the end of the year. The difference with the number two, guardianryoga, is on this day, 17 December, 604 films. If guardianryoga starts watching films 24/7 until the end of the year and manages to see only films of ± 40 minutes, there's only time left to see 500 or so films. So, what everyone has been expecting for months, has become a mathematical certainty. Theoretically, mightysparks can still beat the Scoreboard record of staup2005: 1413 films (set in 2006). But then she has to see almost twenty films a day until the end of the year.
Changes in the top 10: rwebb (8->6), tom_elce (6->7) & Puzzgal (7->8). rwebb has joined, again, the players who have seen more than one 1 film/day. There are seven of them now. By the way, mightysparks is, with 3.24 films/day, the only player with an average higher than 2.
I saw six films and stayed 11th. I got closer to the number ten spot. 10 films to go!

Perhaps we need to arrange for julesyoung to win an all expenses paid trip to somewhere wonderful .. but there are not movies.

And congrads to Mightysparks. I want her job!

Update #43 (24 December) - Mightysparks, who's the winner of this year's Scoreboard, won't break the record staup2005 set in 2006 (1413 films). That's 100% sure now. But she only the second player in the history of the Scoreboard to have seen more than 1000 films in one year. It's also certain that six other players will end this year with an average of more than 1 film/day. Maybe Puzzgal can still join them?
No changes in the top 10 this week.
I saw seven films and stayed 11th. I didn't get closer to the number ten spot. Still 10 films to go, so probably it'll be impossible to enter the top 10.

Pretty happy with my showing this year, even though I'll probably drop to 7th if and when rwebb updates. But next year I shall defeat you mightysparks, even if I have to alienate everyone I care about! (But seriously... well done!)

Just updated for the end of the year (and had missed a few others), so my final number is 1165. That was one good movie watching year! I got burnt out after the October horror challenge (watched 301 movies that month -_-), otherwise I may have beat that record. I'm moving overseas in May, so I don't expect to hit even half of what I watched in 2012 :P

Update #44 (31 December) - It's almost over! Mightysparks is, as said before, the indisputable winner of this year's Scoreboard. It looks like guardianryoga will be second
and jaimeblack third, but the number four, lee94, hasn't updated since 15 November, so there might still be a surprise. No changes in the top 10 this week. Puzzgal has joined the group of players who have seen more than 1 film/day. They're eighth now, and I don't think anyone else will join them.
I saw nine films and went down on spot, I'm 12th now. No top 10 for me this year: julesyoung (+ 16 films) ran away from me this last week, I have also been overtaken by dashforcover.

Are you going to do this for 2013?

Finally updated my 2012 list
