For the main list, I'm only considering electronic musicians in the popular music context -- that is to say, artists of, though not limited to, the following styles: early electronic/synthesizer music, ambient, Italo disco, Hi-NRG, synthpop/electropop, industrial/EBM, electro, house, techno, freestyle, Miami bass, eurodance, trip-hop/downtempo, trance, hardcore, jungle/drum & bass, indietronica, big beat, UK garage/2-step, garage rap/grime and dubstep. (Note that some refer to this popular electronic music genre as "electronica", though others -- particularly music historians -- dismiss this term.) For now, I'm simply listing noteworthy and significant artists alphabetically. At some point, I will rank the "300 Greatest Electronic Artists" based on the criteria of influence, acclaim and popularity. Please feel free to make suggestions; let me know if I've missed anyone significant.
