Ragtime Videos

Pretty darn good music to my ears. I did not know that you were a musician, Elston. Still not sure what I'm going to rate your music as.

I'm going to learn maybe 3-5 Blind Blake songs. Ragtime is best genre ever. You should see Woody Mann play it.

Based on what little I have listened to by Scott Joplin, I agree that ragtime is awesome and it probably deserves a comeback more than most other genres. In the midst of me frantically trying to track down the greatest classical masterpieces, I shamefully must admit that I’ve never found the time to explore ragtime, as well as early jazz & blues music. For the moment, classical music is my life. I live for it… I die for it!

By the way, it’s me lesbianwalrus - the guy you “un-endorsed” a while back :’’’’’(((((

I forgot to mention that I had an epiphany watching that video of you paying the guitar. It awakened something inside me and I’m not sure why. It actually inspired me to pick up my paint brush and start painting again. Sounds corny, but it’s true.

I would like to start making Classical lists myself, but first I want to tackle the Best Songs of American Popular Music 1900-2011. Should take a few years. Art gives life meaning. I never found any religion or social cause to rally behind. When I work on it I feel like I'm doing something real. It's pretty darn hard tho.

oh btw I love piano sonatas by any great composer, especially Beethoven.

If you love classical piano music, then I recommend Debussy’s piano miniature Bruyères. Few piano works are as emotionally captivating as this:

Also check out his pour les Octves. What dreams are made of:

Wow. I hear so many Bop pianists in his playing. He must have influenced thousands. Sounds a little like Chopin too. Beautiful stuff.
