Two DVD Releases of Note

Those of you "In The Know" know that Fox Home Entertainment is going to be releasing the first season of The Simpsons on DVD on September 25th, 2001. And that this 3-disc set will include all 13 episodes from the first season and the original shorts that appeared on Tracey Ullman's show and a 'lost' episode heretofore unseen.

But did you know that they are also going to be releasing the Star Wars: Episode I DVD on October 16th, 2001? Including six hours of bonus material? No? Well, now you know and you can consider yourself "In The Know"! Ya, know?

I wonder, when Lucas gets around to releasing episodes IV, V, and VI on DVD, will they be the original theatrical release, or the enhanced release with all the new special effects added in?

Jim, I think it would be easy enough for him to put all of the different versions in one multi-disc set. There's only two versions of each episode, right?

I think so. But I get the impression that Lucas would be quite the revisionist if he could get away with it. I wouldn't be surprised if he just went with the "as I intended it to look had the technology been advanced enough" version.
