Now that Netflix has released their RSS feeds, I can move past annoyance at their seeming unwillingness to buy a copy of The Ox-Bow Incident and on to amusement. For kicks, click "read more" for a list of New Releases this week that are not readily available Henry Fonda westerns scoring 8.2 on the IMDb (high enough to score in the seventies on their top 250, but apparently it hasn't garnered enough votes yet).
Netflix has Ox-Bow Incident with a release date of November 23, 2004!!
Woo-hoo! I've going to use the occasion as an excuse to use the new "move to top" button in the redesigned Netflix queue page.

You can have it, because I put it at #11. I won't be needing it for a while. I only just noticed it, but it must have changed last week sometime.
I guess since it's a flat monthly fee and not a pay-per-rent, Netflix doesn't really have any incentive to pick up requested movies. Especially if they look at your account, see you've been renting for a while, see you have a long queue, and figure they're not going to lose any business if they don't pick it up. That still doesn't explain why they're picking up Tupperware!: American Experience, though...
I just noticed that Netflix has restored The Ox-Bow Incident to the searchable database. I can add it to my queue, although it is still "release date unknown" and "no image available".
Interesting that there's at least been a change! Now all they have to do is figure out that they can buy it from Amazon and have it shipped w/i 24 hours.

That Tupperware doc has great buzz. I caught part of it on PBS, and it has a humorous tone.
Cool. For most of the movies I highlight, I do it based on the title alone, without really knowing anything about them. I like to think in most of these cases the title is representative of the content.
Yeah, I guess, although this is easily the most notable admission I've stumbled across. They tend to just have everything else, esp. well-regarded classics that aren't out of print. I've requested this movie on several occasions, as have friends of mine, and still no dice. It's just bizarre, like the head of Netflix's purchasing department was traumatized by that movie or something.
At this point I almost hope they don't pick it up. It's too much fun combing through the dreck they buy instead.

The plot thickens! I have no idea. As it doesn't show up in the Netflix search, how'd you even find that page? Did you use Google to search Netflix? (which appears to do the trick)
Yes, I used Google. My search terms were ox, bow, incident, and netflix. Once I found it, I tried adding it to my queue or to a list in my profile, but neither worked. It returns "unavailable".
This isn't an "out of print" situation, which is what's so odd. Amazon.com has a release date of March 2, 2004. How can it be out of print?
I thought they might be having a problem with Fox, but no, they have other Fox titles available.
Why isn't Ox-Bow there? It's as if it's black-listed. Are we making a mountain out of a molehill?

I am getting the Ox-Bow Incident from Nicheflix. I've never seen it. I could get it on VHS from Hollyweird Video, but I prefer the DVD format. The Nicheflix copy was released 11/04/2003, Region 1, NTSC.

Netflix doesn't carry The Ox-Bow Incident? I'm flabbergasted. My library has it on DVD, and Turner plays it a lot. Other than the last few minutes, it's fantastic.
I think everybody in the world has it except Netflix and my local video stores. I've asked them for it a couple times, so it's not like they don't know about it. I wonder how many movies I can add to this list before they finally buy it?
