5 List-Obsessed Books

This was just too topical to pass up: 5 List-Obsessed Books. « via openstacks »

My library doesn't carry "The Book of Lists," but it does carry "The Book of Lists for Teens," so I gave it a go.

I was amused to find "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" at #4 on a list of '22 Scariest Movies' topped by Alien, The Birds, and Blair Witch. The only other pre-1955 title was Nosferatu, #13.

Also, commentary on 'the trouble with videogames:'

4. The games rarely require independent thought or creativity. Are you joking? What games have they been playing?
6. They cost a fortune! $50 for hundreds of hours of entertainment with a great multiplayer game is far cheaper than $20 for a 2-hour movie, popcorn, and a Coke.

Oh, and I simply must include Tony Goldmark's list of fun, demented songs:

Stan Freberg - Banana Boat (Day-O)
Frank Zappa - Dancin' Fool
They Might Be Giants - Doctor Worm
Monty Python - Fish License/Eric the Half-A-Bee
Allan Sherman - Hello Mudduh, Hello Fadduh
Groucho Marx - Hooray for Captain Spaulding
Space Ghost - I Love You Baby
Tom Lehrer - Irish Ballad
Radio Free Vestibule - Kevin and God
Spike Jones - Man on the Flying Trapeze
Arrogant Worms - Mounted Animal Nature Trail
Richard Cheese - Nookie/Break Stuff
Eddie Lawrence - Old Philosopher
Tom Smith - Psychic Voicemail Hotline
Ren & Stimpy - Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen Anthem
Napoleon XIV - They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!
Frantics - Ti Kwan Leep/Boot to the Head
Adam Sandler - Voodoo
Henry Phillips - What DEo you Want Me to Do About It?
Great Luke Ski - What's Up, Spock?

Oh yes, and I learned that 2/3 of the world's eggplants are grown in New Jersey alone. That's far worse than Iowa and corn...
