Author Comments:

All these are from MOVIES (see #1).

Sorry if some of these characters have already been done, but I didn't read all of the previous games.

Some of these are pretty easy (anyone who's seen the movie should get #4, as it's a very memorable name; same goes for #46) and some are harder.

I rearranged them so that all the unguessed ones are at the top.

7/28/02 - All right, I warned y'all. Here are some additional clues to the 8 remaining characters.

10. Rusty Panello is not one of this actor's best roles. He was best in 1933.

12. A big clue is already posted in the discussion here: CAROLE LOMBARD PLAYS HER.

13. This is a child actor in a famous film of the 70's.

15. You should be able to get it with the clues on the discussion here. Note that I already said IT WAS A KUROSAWA FILM, and I commented that I was surprised Jim didn't get it the first time, meaning it's ONE OF JIM'S FAVORITE MOVIES. To call this one of Kurosawa's more popular films would be an understatement. It starts with an S. Please, someone just say the movie name and I'll give you credit.

29. This is from a foreign comedy. It was remade by Hollywood fairly recently.

35. This role was played by a very talented African-American comedian.

41. This is from one entry of a series of funny films.

45. This is played by the only man to appear in "It's a Wonderful Life", "Gone With the Wind", "The Searchers", "The Grapes of Wrath", "The Quiet Man", "Mister Roberts", "Rio Bravo", and "My Darling Clementine", along with small uncredited roles in "Bringing Up Baby", "It Happened One Night", and "You Can't Take it With You." Tom Polhaus is from a famous classic, but not one I've mentioned here.

Hope this makes things a little simpler.

8/2/02 - If no one has any more guesses, I suppose I'll post the answers soon. The rest are some of the hardest - maybe not the ones I'd have picked for the hardest seven, but they're hard.

8/4/02 - Apparently the thrill of this particular game is gone. Here are the answers of the remaining ones, just in case you were curious:

10. Harpo Marx in "Go West"
12. Carole Lombard in "To Be Or Not To Be"
13. Cary Guffey in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"
29. Michael Serrault in "La Cage Aux Folles" (actually his character's stage name)
35. Richard Pryor in "Silver Streak"
41. Bob Hope in "Road to Utopia"
45. Ward Bond in "The Maltese Falcon"

Sweet deal! I got here early enough! At first glance:

#4 - The Man with Two Brains
#37 - Snatch?

And #16 is going to prey on my brain.

Correct, buddy!

First post in forever, but here goes a stab at what's left on the list:

47 Gregory Walcott - "Plan 9 from Outer Space"
44 Michael Caine - "Sleuth"
14 Dave Chappelle "Screwed"
1 Dan Castellaneta "the Simpsons"
31 Tippi Hedren "the Birds"
34 Cheech Marin "Up in Smoke"
42 Woody Allen, "Everything you walways wanted to know about sex..."
15 is from a Kurosawa film, I'm sure of it...
7 Robert Walker "Strangers on a Train"

All correct except #1 (read my "Author Comments" please). #15 is indeed from a Kurosawa film...but which?

All you want is the movie? No actor/actress names?

Actor / actress names would be nice, but I'll let you by on just a movie name.

17: 2001, not sure who played him off the top of my head
22: Back to the Future trilogy, again the name escapes me
24: Young Frankenstein (Cloris Leachman)
36: Monty Python & the Holy Grail (Eric Idle)
46: Life of Brian (Graham Chapman)
48: Blazing Saddles (Madeline Kahn)
I'm sure I'll be annoyed if I've missed another Monty Python character, I'm sure there's probably afew other Mel Brooks characters in there, too :)

Yup! All right!

48. Madeline Karn in Blazing Saddles
28. Bill Murray in Ed Wood
24. Cloris Leachman in Young Frankenstein
19. ? is Reservoir Dogs
11. Rob Reiner in This Is Spinal Tap

Phreak actually got 24 and 48 before you, but I'll give you credit for 11, 19, and 28. #19 (Marvin Nash, the cop they torture) is played by Kirk Baltz, who has also had small roles in "Natural Born Killers", "Dances With Wolves", "Bulworth", and the TV show "24."

16. I have no idea what the actress' name is, but the movie is "Clerks"
21. Eddie Murphy, "48HRS"
27. Robert DeNiro, "Brazil"
30. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, "Airplane!"
33. Groucho Marx, "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?"
40. Charlton Heston, "Soylent Green" (...is people!!!)

#16 is Lisa Spoonhauer, who has appeared in NO other movies (to my knowledge).

#30 is actually Peter Graves in "Airplane!", but I'll give it to you anyway. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played Roger Murdock.

#33 - Good job! I'm very impressed! I didn't think anyone would get this obscure cameo from an obscure 50's comedy!

As for the rest, you're correct. Nice going!

I always say i am not going to do these games and then I lack any conviction

21. Eddie Murphy 48 Hours
38. Mack Swain in The Gold Rush
39. Is Piper Laurie in the Hustler
25. Is Bill Pullman in Ruthless People
3. Is Greta Schachi in The Player
5. Is from The Odd Couple. Damn if I knew who player her though.
32. Peter Finch from Network.

Thats enough for now.

Nice going, jgandcag! #5 is Monica Evans, whose filmography is also pretty slim, although she did voice Maid Marian in the Disney version of "Robin Hood" (1973) - this has been an Interesting Little Tidbit.

1 - Well, since this is also on my character game ( :) ), I won't guess at this...
2 - Bringing Up Baby (I practically have this film memorized...)

OK, I try not to get hooked on this games, so I'll stop there. Nice job!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Thanks - nice job to you too! Yeah, actually I realized that a lot of mine have been used in previous character games. I think I found 7, and I didn't even go through all the previous ones.

Whoops, I'm stupid, now I remember 7 was actually the number of movies I found already featured in character games, not the number of characters. But there were a few characters from other games.

43 - Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love?

If there aren't any more guesses by tomorrow morning, I'll start giving out some clues.

Alright, since I don't dig clues, and since I'm feeling very screwballish lately...

9. The Philadelphia Story
23. The General
26. His Girl Friday
49. The Godfather

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

#23 and #26 - Good job!

#9 - You can't fool me, lbangs. I realized that Liz Imbrie was on one of your character games and remained unguessed. I'll give you credit anyway :)

#49 - I was trying to catch the hardcore Godfather fans with this one. Michael Francis Rizzi is the name of the infant that is baptized, played by Sofia Coppola before she turned 1. She is uncredited. Congratulations, lbangs!

"#9 - You can't fool me, lbangs. I realized that Liz Imbrie was on one of your character games and remained unguessed. I'll give you credit anyway :)"

Would you believe I honestly forgot about that?

Oh, well.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

#8 is Robert Redford, "The Sting"
#50. is Peter Sellers, "The Party"

Christ, I've seen these films many times. How could I miss these. Must be slippin' in my advance youth...

Nice going, slipkid71!

1. Is Donald Sutherland in the Day of The Locust. I saw 20 minutes of this movie recently.
6. Is Lloyd bridges in High Noon
12. is Carle Lombard in To Have and Have Not
18. Tim Holt in the Treasure of Sierra Madre
20. Is Mia Farrow from Zelig

#1, #6, #18, #20 - Correct!

#12 - Right actress, wrong film.

Once again, I must warn you that if there are no more guesses by tomorrow afternoon, I will give out some clues. I admit that the last 8 are all either played by obscure actors or in obscure films, except #12 and #35.

P.S. Jim, I'm surprised you didn't get #15 the first time you posted. Well, the biggest clue possible is already posted here in the discussions.

Sorry, I didn't tune in this weekend. I'll go ahead and guess The Seven Samurai for #15. In my defense, I generally suck at character games. I almost always remember the actors but not the character names.

#12 is Carole Lombard in To Be or Not To Be.

I've actually already posted the answers for these, but I'm going to assume you didn't notice them, otherwise it would be pretty dumb to answer now. So since you didn't catch them, I'll give you credit for this one.

Hey look at that. And I was all proud of myself for knowing it. Whoops.
